When you're not dining out, prepare meals at home in the well-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and bar seating for two. At the end of the nighttime, getaway to the top-level primary suite with king bed and spa-like private bath.

Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Book your rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking the right Kill Devil Hills rental:

  • To start, have your group choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Hot Tub
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
