Tips for getting the best vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Luke’s Retreat has 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
