Tips and Tricks to get the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Boho studio perfect for couples. 5 min away from the beach and the sound! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is right for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
