Tips and Tricks to get the very best Kill Devil Hills vacation home experience:
When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to book:
- To get the largest rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Kill Devil Hills restaurants and activities.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Unit 2-Walk\/ Bike to Beach! Bikes Included! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
