For a classic OBX experience and a throwback to simpler times, make The Pink House your next home away from home. This cozy and comfortable bungalow is brimming with history and vintage appeal. Constructed in the 1960's and lovingly maintained, The Pink House still features the original exposed beam ceilings. Two screened porches - one in the front and a second on the back of the home - are ideal for outdoor living while being protected from the elements. Family Animals are welcome, so your fur babies can join you on your next trip to the Outer Banks!
When it's time to hit the beach, take a fast drive north to the Hayman Blvd beach access, which provides plenty of complimentary parking. Sidewalks and close by pedestrian crosswalks make it simple to discover the neighborhood on foot or by bicycle. Within a half mile radius you'll find Avalon Fishing Pier, the Front Porch Cafe, Wawa, Target, a movie theater and dining options including Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar and The Jolly Roger.
Can’t stay an entire week? The Pink House is available for short stays with flexible arrival/departure options. For guests who like to plan ahead, partial week stays (three-nighttime minimum) can be reserved months in advance. Choose any day of the week for check-in and check-out.

Tips and Tricks to get the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Kill Devil Hills. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Kill Devil Hills vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the best Kill Devil Hills vacation home:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Pet-Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
