For a classic OBX experience and a throwback to simpler times, make The Pink House your next home away from home. This cozy and comfortable bungalow is brimming with history and vintage appeal. Constructed in the 1960's and lovingly maintained, The Pink House still features the original exposed beam ceilings. Two screened porches - one in the front and a second on the back of the home - are ideal for outdoor living while being protected from the elements. Family Animals are welcome, so your fur babies can join you on your next trip to the Outer Banks!

When it's time to hit the beach, take a fast drive north to the Hayman Blvd beach access, which provides plenty of complimentary parking. Sidewalks and close by pedestrian crosswalks make it simple to discover the neighborhood on foot or by bicycle. Within a half mile radius you'll find Avalon Fishing Pier, the Front Porch Cafe, Wawa, Target, a movie theater and dining options including Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar and The Jolly Roger.

Can’t stay an entire week? The Pink House is available for short stays with flexible arrival/departure options. For guests who like to plan ahead, partial week stays (three-nighttime minimum) can be reserved months in advance. Choose any day of the week for check-in and check-out.

Pets allowed. No smoking/vaping. Mini-split air conditioning (3 units).

Tricks and tips to get the very best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. The Pink House: Central Location
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
