Booking the best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Kill Devil Hills. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Kill Devil Hills trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Sand Life - Pelican's Upper Deck! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
