Tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and choose yourrental:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Heaven At The Sound: Fully Remodeled
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your group.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Kill Devil Hills destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
