Strategies to get the very best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in Kill Devil Hills. To book the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. beachbox in the heart of everything has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Kill Devil Hills beach you crave, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Tips for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
