Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental experience:
When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the right Kill Devil Hills rental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 5090 Hook Line Sinker * Oceanfront * Pool has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a particular Kill Devil Hills beach you love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
