Getting the best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
Get the best value:
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Historic Cottage Steps from the Beach and Dog Friendly! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
