Tricks and tips to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Kill Devil Hills area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Kill Devil Hills vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Cherie's Place OBX Close to Beach & Sound has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
